An Adrenaline Boost to Lose Weight

Source
Losing weight can be a tough goal to achieve. Let's face it, it can be truly frustrating to get rid of those pesky pounds that continually stick around the body. To make matters worse it can become increasingly difficult if you are repeatedly unsuccessful in meeting your target objective since that's not going to help your motivation to continue on with your intended goal. Time to get an adrenaline boost to inspire you to improve your weight loss efforts.
One of the main issues when faced trying to lose weight is that there are so many things that must be taken care of on a daily basis. Weight loss can often come in third, fourth, or maybe even fifth place on your priorities list. With something that far down on a list of importance, it's easy to overlook the little things that need to be taken care of in order for you to be successful losing weight.
Naturally first you have your family and possibly kids that need your immediate attention, then likely your job and all the pressure and deadlines associated with that. Next you may have your significant other to worry about, then maybe your household needs your attention. With all these other important matters to attend to it can be rather easy to forget about your healthy agenda to lose weight and get fit. Or in all reality, you may just be too tired by the end of the day to care much about weight loss any longer.
One way to combat this issue is to give yourself an adrenaline boost of motivation to help bring the goal of weight loss to the forefront of your priorities. Granted it won't, nor should it, replace any of the aforementioned necessities, but at least the idea of sticking with weight loss will remain in the back of your head throughout the day.
Here's how you can do this. Take a quick moment to weigh yourself each and every morning and track it on a monthly wall calendar. What that means is to simply tack up a monthly calendar (you can usually find one for a $1 at the dollar store) in your bathroom or where you keep your scale and in the morning before showering, hop on your scale and whatever number pops up, write that directly on the day on your calendar.
Source
You will soon have a fantastic day-by-day tracker by taking this simple, yet important step, it will help force the weight loss issue to remain in the back of your mind inspiring you to make healthy nutritional choices throughout the day.
Making poor nutritional choices once or twice a day is usually what prevents a person from reaching their weight loss goal. As shocking as that may sound, one slip in a snacking instance allowing yourself to binge on chips and soda can easily toss 1,000+ calories into your body. You're just not going to lose weight that way!
However, if you get into the habit of weighing yourself every morning, you'll get that all-important adrenaline boost so when the thought of snacking on something unhealthy pops up in your mind, you'll remember that you're going to weigh yourself the next day and hopefully you'll stick with something nutritious instead.
Weight loss success is the culmination of many small decisions made for a prolonged period of time. The more weight you want to lose, the longer the process generally takes. You can do it as long as you're willing to make some changes in how you live your life, and stick with the process.

Recommended: How I Lost 39 Pounds And Achieved My Goal Weight

Source
As we know losing weight is NOT easy. It takes a lot of commitment and action. I had finally reached a point in my life when I made a decision that I was going to control my weight and not let it control me!

I remember the day I stood in my local grocery store in the cookie section talking to a package of cookies... well more like yelling at them, letting them know that I had power over them. My husband and another shopper just stared at me in disbelief lol. Now these were not just any cookies, these were fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. Ones that I absolutely loved! So I did what I had to do to unleash my inner power that motivated me to leave the store without that pack of cookies.

I had decided that day that I was going to do something about my weight once and for all. I was "sick and tired of being sick and tired." You may even know how that feels. I was sick and tired of not having enough energy. I was sick and tired of feeling stuffed in my clothes. I was sick and tired of being bullied and overpowered by food, and I made up in my mind that enough was enough!
I am going to share with you some of the things that I did in addition to yelling at that package of cookies to lose weight. This article is not meant to replace any medical advice or professional advice, it is designed to be a source of information and inspiration. And all of these tips might not work for everyone, but surely they can at least motivate you to get going, or stay on track!

Source

Tip 1:

I developed the right mindset to support my desired weight loss. I developed a way of thinking that would move me toward my weight loss goals and not away from them.

Tip 2:

I used positive and empowering self-talk. I called myself the things that I wanted to be. I said it until I saw it. I stopped calling myself "fat" and I started saying "I am getting healthier and healthier everyday!" I knew that I would not excel any higher than what I believed about myself.

Tip 3:

I did things that worked for me. I had to heighten my awareness as it related to who I am. I had to realize that I was not meant to do what worked for everyone else. I had to discover what worked for me and then stick to it. Doing what worked for me is one of the biggest contributors to me achieving my goal weight.

Tip 4:

I made small but beneficial changes as it related to my eating habits and activities. I didn't try to do everything in one day. Every morning that I woke up I focused on doing better than I did the day before. I realized that the weight didn't show up overnight, and it wasn't going to magically disappear overnight. And no matter how small my changes were I knew that even small changes would lead to BIG results.
Tip 5:

I focused on the things that I loved about myself, and took my eyes off of what I perceived to be the things I didn't like about myself.

Tip 6:

If I made a mistake when it came to my eating I didn't beat myself up. When I fell, I got back up, dusted myself off and stayed on track.

Tip 7:

I surrounded myself with positive, supportive and uplifting people who were a source of encouragement on my weight loss journey.

Useful Weight Loss Tips

Source
Losing weight, and keeping it off is never easy, but it offers many benefits. You might only need to make various small changes and incorporate new habits into your lifestyle so as to lose excess weight and maintain healthy weight. That being said, it's important to know that there's no 1 size fits all solution, to a permanent weight loss. What might work for 1 person, might not work for another, since our bodies normally respond differently depending on many health factors such as genetics, metabolic rates, among others. To find the best method of healthy weight loss that is best for you, may require patience, focus, commitment, and dedication. That being so, here are some useful weight loss tips to help you out;
1. Exercise
Exercise greatly aids in weight loss and its benefits go beyond just burning calories. Exercises help increase your body's metabolism and keeps you motivated. You can go for walks, you can stretch, jog around and such other exercises; this will give you more motivation and energy to tackle other steps in your efforts.
2. Focus on the Small Changes
Make small and manageable tweaks in your daily routine, instead of going for an unsustainable complete overhaul all at once. For instance, you can start by taking control of your diet by making simple diet swaps from unhealthy foods to healthy foods like green tea rather than coffee with sugar and milk; brown rice pasta rather than white pasta; the sweet potatoes rather than white potatoes.
3. Control Your Emotional Eating
Only eat when you are hungry. Way too often, many people tend turn to food when anxious or stressed, which can mess up your diet and eventually pack on the excess pounds. Identify your particular emotional eating triggers; this will make a great difference in your efforts.
4. Eat More Fruits
If you're struggling to avoid snacking on the high calorie treats, try replacing such treats with fruits. Snack on fruits rather than cookies, chocolates, and candy; this will give your weight loss efforts the much needed boost. Well, even if you aren't struggling with snacking, increasing the daily fruit consumption significantly helps you lose the excess weight. Increased fruit intake also reduces the BMI and induces weight loss.
Some fruits such as avocados, blueberries, bananas, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, kiwis and watermelons enhance weight loss because of their nutritional values and their ability of keeping you feeling full for much longer.
5. Watch Your Intake of Alcohol
Alcohol is a very high calorie beverage, moreover, alcohol intake might hamper your weight loss process in many years. By moderating your alcohol consumption you will greatly enhance you efforts.

source
6. Get adequate Sleep
It does not matter if you're following the best diet, and exercising intensely, If you aren't getting enough sleep, you're depriving your body the recuperation time that it needs in order to stay fit and healthy. Loss of sleep actually suppresses production of the leptin (which is a hunger controlling hormone), enhances or promotes production of ghrelin, and also increase your food intake. In addition, leptin helps increase your energy. Getting enough sleep will greatly add to your efforts.
Conclusion
Weight loss does not happen overnight, it takes, time and patience. By following the above mentioned tips, you will greatly add to your efforts. Remember, be persistent and diligence in your weight loss efforts and you will eventually enjoy \amazing results. For more weight loss tips, check out this link.

Healthy dieting and weight loss tips part 1

Healthy dieting and weight loss tip #1: Get moving

The amount exercise aids weight loss is open to debate, but the benefits go way beyond burning calories. Exercise can increase your metabolism and improve your outlook—and it’s something you can benefit from right now. Go for a walk, stretch, move around and you’ll have more energy and motivation to tackle the other steps in your weight loss program.
  • Lack time for a long workout? Research shows that three 10-minute spurts of exercise per day are just as good as one 30-minute workout.
  • Remember: anything is better than nothing. Start off slowly with small amounts of physical activity each day. Then, as you start to lose weight and have more energy, you’ll find it easier to become more physically active.
  • Find exercise you enjoy. Try walking with a friend, dancing, hiking, cycling, playing Frisbee with a dog, enjoying a pickup game of basketball, or playing activity-based video games with your kids.

Healthy dieting and weight loss tip #2: Control emotional eating

We don’t always eat simply to satisfy hunger. All too often, we turn to food when we’re stressed or anxious, which can wreck any diet and pack on the pounds. Do you eat when you’re worried, bored, or lonely? Do you snack in front of the TV at the end of a stressful day? Recognizing your emotional eating triggers can make all the difference in your weight-loss efforts. If you eat when you’re:

  • Stressed - find healthier ways to calm yourself. Try yoga, meditation, or soaking in a hot bath.
  • Low on energy - find other mid-afternoon pick-me-ups. Try walking around the block, listening to energizing music, or taking a short nap.
  • Lonely or bored - reach out to others instead of reaching for the refrigerator. Call a friend who makes you laugh, take your dog for a walk, or go to the library, mall, or park—anywhere there’s people.

Healthy dieting and weight loss tip #3: Stay motivated

Permanent weight loss requires making healthy changes to your lifestyle and food choices. These tips can help you to stay motivated:
  • Find a cheering section. Social support means a lot. Programs like Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers use group support to impact weight loss and lifelong healthy eating. Seek out support—whether in the form of family, friends, or a support group—to get the encouragement you need.
  • Slow and steady wins the race.  Losing weight too fast can take a toll on your mind and body, making you feel sluggish, drained, and sick. Aim to lose one to two pounds a week so you’re losing fat rather than water and muscle.
  • Set goals to keep you motivated. Short-term goals, like wanting to fit into a bikini for the summer, usually don’t work as well as wanting to feel more confident or become healthier for your children’s sakes. When temptation strikes, focus on the benefits you’ll reap from being healthier.
  • Use tools to track your progress. Smartphone apps, fitness trackers, or simply keeping a journal can help you keep track of the food you eat, the calories you burn, and the weight you lose. Seeing the results in black and white can help you stay motivated.
  • Get plenty of sleep. Lack of sleep stimulates your appetite so you want more food than normal; at the same time, it stops you feeling satisfied, making you want to keep eating. Sleep deprivation can also affect your motivation, so try to get about eight hours of quality sleep a night.

Healthy dieting and weight loss tip #4: Cut down on sugar and refined carbs

Whether or not you’re specifically aiming to cut carbs, most of us consume way more sugar and refined carbohydrates than is healthy. Eliminating candy and desserts is only part of the solution, though. Sugar is hidden in foods as diverse as bread, canned soups and vegetables, pasta sauce, margarine, and many foods labelled “low fat” or “no fat.” All this hidden sugar amounts to nothing but a lot of empty calories.
  • Opt for low sugar products and use fresh or frozen ingredients instead of canned goods whenever possible.
  • Soft drinks (including soda, energy drinks, shakes, and coffee drinks) are one of the biggest sources of hidden sugar. One can of soda or a medium shake can contain between 10-12 teaspoons of added sugar.
  • Switching to diet soda isn’t the answer as it can trigger sugar cravings and contributes to weight gain. Instead, try switching to carbonated water with a splash of juice or unsweetened iced tea.
  • By slowly reducing the sugar in your diet a little at a time, you’ll give your taste buds time to adjust and be able to wean yourself off the craving for sweets.
  • To avoid unhealthy spikes in blood sugar, avoid refined carbs such as white bread, white rice or pasta, and opt for their whole-grain counterparts instead.

Less sugar can mean a slimmer waistline

A lot of belly fat surrounds the abdominal organs and liver, and is closely linked to insulin resistance and diabetes. Calories obtained from fructose (found in sugary beverages such as soda and processed foods like doughnuts, muffins, and candy) are more likely to add to this dangerous fat around your belly. Cutting back on sugary foods can mean a slimmer waistline as well as a lower risk of disease.

Healthy dieting and weight loss tip #5: Think good fat, not low fat

Walk down any grocery store aisle and you’ll be bombarded with low-fat or fat-free snacks, dairy, and packaged meals. But while our low-fat options have exploded, so have obesity rates. Clearly, low-fat foods aren’t delivering on their weight loss promises.
Part of the problem is that many of us have swapped dairy and animal fats for the empty calories of refined carbohydrates and sugar. Instead of eating whole-fat yoghurt, for example, we’re eating low- or no-fat versions that are packed with sugar to make up for the loss of taste.

Be smart about saturated fat

Prominent organizations such as the American Heart Association maintain that eating saturated fat from any source increases the risk of heart disease. However, there’s evidence to suggest that not all saturated fat is the same.

  • Studies show that eating whole-milk dairy is actually linked to less body fat and lower levels of obesity. This may be because full-fat dairy keeps you feeling satisfied for longer, helping you to eat less overall.
  • Adding a little tasty fat, such as butter, to a plate of vegetables, for example, can make it easier to eat healthy food and improve the overall quality of your diet.
  • While some people would be wise to limit the amount of saturated fat they consume, others may find that enjoying healthy sources of saturated fat can help weight loss.
  • Some nutritionists also warn against swapping butter or lard for industrially manufactured vegetable oils due to the damaging heat and solvents used in processing.

3 Rules and 3 Lessons to Lose Weight Once and for All

source

There are numerous weight loss options out there, given that it's a billion dollar industry! Diet trends are created with new scientific research, documented by before and after photos, passed down by generations, and promoted by famous celebs. We are willing to do just about anything to fit into our favorite pair of skinny jeans, so we tend to listen to whatever diet is trending at the time. Atkins, Du-ken, Cornish, Campbell study, Palo, Vegan, Juices, Gluten free... One swears by fat, the other one by proteins and the third one has a strong evidence that both fat and too much protein are to blame?! Just who should we trust and what will deliver the results that will last for a lifetime?
The secret is very simple, Pollen says: "Eat food. Mostly plants. Not too much." And that's it. Eat the food! Do not eat anything that has more than 4-5 ingredients. Don't eat anything that your grandmother would not recognize as a legit food.
Eat mostly plants. We tend to overestimate our daily protein needs as well as underestimate the amount of protein in plants! Eat your beans, Quinta or nuts and your digestion system will thank you for it!
Not too much. One of the dangers of healthy foods, especially ones containing sugar, is that we might give ourselves permission to overeat them because they are healthy. It's true- 200 calories coming from oranges is nutritionally not the same as 200 calories coming from cookies, but... they do count!
Following those 3 rules, after hundreds of lost and gained pounds over the last ten years, my scale and I finally live in peace and harmony. After the dark age of diet pills, shakes, compulsive exercise, fat burners, ephedra, protein bars and L-carnitine, here are the 3 most important lessons I've learned while maintaining a lean physique:
1. Hunger is a normal natural phenomenon. Actually, it is desirable from time to time. It is OK to feel hungry and you should feel hungry from time to time. Embrace it!
2. To live as a fit, healthy and strong person is a decision you have to make several times every day in a million different situations. Should I just sit in front of a TV because I'm tired or should I actually go for a 20-minute walk? Should I eat another slice of bread or have a bowl of lettuce? Make the right decision for yourself on a daily basis.
3. Make peace with your scale. It is what it is and that number does not define you as a person. Be brave, step on and keep stepping on every single day. Find out where you are today and decide where you want to be tomorrow. Commit to it and never stop tracking your progress. Remember, it's just a number!
And at the end... the most important secret of all... (drum-rolls) Never give up on yourself! You won't get fat from one day of binge eating, it happens. What you do the day after is what makes all the difference, so forgive yourself and try harder tomorrow!

8 Diet Habits That Will Trim Your Waistline

source

People all but tell you what a fat slob you are and that you need to thin down a lot. They also give you unasked for advice on what to eat and what to avoid eating, how much to exercise and when. But there are times when despite all your best and honest efforts, things just don't work for you. At such times, ditch all the advice and try some of these diet habits that could turn the tide for you:
Have your ears acupunctured: You probably never imagined that you would have your ears needled, but if you knew that it could curb your appetite, you might give it some serious thought. According to research, there are five points on the ears that are related to digestion and hunger. When these points are acupunctured, people lose weight. Worth a try, don't you think?
Maintain a food diary: This one always works for dieters. By tracking all that you ate in a day prevents you from doing it again. But now, research proves that you could take a photo of the food you want to eat rather than write it in a diary because this gives you the option of changing your food choice for a healthy one.
Drink plenty of water: Here's another of the many diet habits that can trim your waistline. If you drink cold water, your metabolism can get a boost since your body must now work harder to warm the cold water, so you will lose more calories. Drinking water from time to time also gives you a feeling of fullness and keeps you from snacking. It also keeps you hydrated before you begin to work out and helps release hormones that build muscles.
Stop sitting, stand up: Everyone knows that sitting for long makes you add weight. So, instead of this, get to your feet every now and then by responding to calls, working on your laptop while standing and speaking to your colleagues while standing. You can also do some exercises while standing and contribute to some weight loss.
Are you getting enough sleep? One of the keys to weight loss is getting adequate sleep. You tend to put on weight when you don't sleep enough which makes you eat more than you should. This happens because your body metabolism doesn't function well in the absence of adequate amount of sleep, hence you tend to reach out to foods you shouldn't be eating and put on weight.

source
Eat at the same time each day: You should schedule your meal times so that you eat between 8 am and 8 pm each day. If you do this, you can lose significant amounts of weight, something enabled by the rhythm of the body's natural digestive system that reaches its peak during the day and ebbs at night.
Keep a straight posture: If you sit and stand straight and pay keen interest to your posture, not only will your figure look good but you will automatically make your stomach muscles tone up.This, in turn, will prevent you from eating unnecessarily and pile on the kilos.
Hang out with positive people: If you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you need to be in the midst of positive-minded people. A healthy support group of friends will help you reach your goal faster and you will begin to make healthy lifestyle choices that contribute to further weight loss.
These diet habits are easy to follow, result-oriented and can bring you the much-desired weight loss that diet plans couldn't.

3 Easy Steps to Fast and Lasting Weight Loss

source

3 Steps To Lose Weight That Will Last

When it comes to losing weight there are no magic pills or secret diets that can help you reach your weight loss goals. But you can achieve your goals with these 3 steps to help lose weight.
Like most things in life losing weight (a lot of weight) boils down to conscious effort, discipline, determination and perseverance.

Losing 10, 20, 50 or 100 pounds or more all comes back to what you do on a daily basis. If you do what you're supposed to do (eat right + exercise) day in a day out you will eventually lose all the weight you want.
However, if you throw caution to the wind and don't do what you're supposed to do then you may never see your weight loss dreams come true. This my friend is the saddest scenario there is.
If you're bored of being fat, if your tired of being overweight, if your ready to start your new life today then hold on because I am about to give you the simple yet extremely effective weight loss plan you've been waiting for.

Are you ready? I am going to tell you in no uncertain terms what you have to do to lose all the weight you want in 3 easy to do steps. However, in order for this to work you must maintain your focus and discipline everyday to keep doing the steps until you reach your desired results.
Even if you falter and veer off your weight loss track, it's OK. If you are able to quickly get back on track you will overtime, reap the benefits of dramatic weight loss and improved health.
And now, without further adieu here are your 3 basic steps to weight loss...

1. EAT LESS
2. EAT BETTER
3. EXERCISE

There they are. What do you think? A little anti-climatic, huh? Maybe you were expecting more... Well, let me tell you if you are able to grasp and implement this powerfully safe and effective weight loss plan is you will never again have to spend another unnecessary dime on weight loss products that don't work.

You see, your body is a fine tuned weight loss management machine. If you follow the right plan and give your body only what it needs to survive it will do all the hard work for you.
Given enough time and following the 3 steps above you can lose tens and even hundreds of pounds without starving yourself or resorting to bogus weight loss pills or dangerous body sculpting surgeries.
Now, this is not to say that the road to significant weight loss will be easy or that you will not have to suffer a bit to reach your desired results. There will be days when you feel like throwing in the towel and giving up.
On those days you might just cave into your undeniable cravings and go crazy at your local all you can eat artery clogging buffet. But hey, that's OK. You're human. Sometimes you have to go a little nuts to get back on track.

However, if you are truly committed to reaching even your most seemingly unattainable weight loss goals you can and will do it by following the plan above. Now, for your benefit let's go a little deeper into each step of the plan.

1. EAT LESS

There is really no doubt about it. If you want to lose weight you have to start eating less. You have to create a calorie deficiency in order for you body to start shedding pounds.
If you do not begin to limit how much food you take in no amount of exercise will help you reach your goals. Eating less of your favorite greasy, fat filled foods will be the quickest way to dramatic weight loss.
It really doesn't matter how much weight you have to lose. Unless you take control of both your conscious and unconscious eating habits you'll be hard pressed to lose even one pound.
No, you have to start cutting back on the amount of food you are used to eating. I've heard of stories where people would go to Mc Donald's and pack away two Super Sized Big Mac Meals.
Obviously, this is way too much. In this situation even cutting down to one Super Size meal would be an improvement. But, as we will see in our next step, a better plan would be to do away with the Super Size meal all-together and start eating better.

2. EAT BETTER

As the saying goes, "We are what we eat." If we eat crap, guess what? However, if we learn to eat well then not only will our waistline thank us for it but we'll also feel better about ourselves to boot.
One of the quickest changes you can make to your diet when trying to lose weight is to ditch all the junk food you may be used to eating (chips, sodas, pizzas, donuts, cookies, etc) and start eating more vegetables.
Now, I know what you might be thinking. You may still be traumatized by your mother not letting you get up from the dinner table until you finished all your broccoli but let me tell you, your mother was right.
If you can fill half your plate at every meal with high fiber and nutrient packed vegetables you are well on your way to significant and long lasting weight loss. This is probably one of the simplest things you can do to really kickstart your weight loss journey.
While it might not be easy to start eating vegetables at every meal the sooner you begin the better off you'll be and the quicker the weight will start to melt off your body.

3. EXERCISE

In order to kick your weight loss adventure into high gear you have to get your body moving. I don't care if you call it working out, exercising, aerobics or whatever the point is you have to do something to get your heart rate up and your sweat glands working overtime.
Exercise is the key to sustainable, long lasting and real weight loss. For every pound you lose by eating right and exercising that is one more pound that will never come back to haunt you.

Why? Because you now know the "secret" to safe and effective weight loss. If you ever feel yourself creeping back up on the dreaded scale o' fat all you have to do is put these 3 steps into action and watch as you stabilize and contradict any unwanted weight gain.
By exercising on a regular basis you are giving your body the energy boost it needs to ramp up your metabolism rate to start efficiently and effectively losing weight on a daily basis. I don't about you but that sounds pretty darn good to me.
The more you push yourself physically the faster you will see change in your body occur. You may not have to work out with a personal trainer everyday but you do need to do something.
Be it going for a walk, running, swimming, biking, hiking, or any other physical activity you like to do start doing it now. Don't spend another night on the couch watching the latest re-runs. Get your body moving and start losing weight today.

CONCLUSION

The Guaranteed Best Weight Loss Program

source
If you want to lose weight, selecting the right weight loss program is absolutely essential to your success. There are a seemingly unlimited number of weight loss programs available on the market today so how can you decide which one is right for you? This is a question I see a lot from both men and women looking for the right program to follow. It's a confusing situation to be in I can imagine; wanting to lose weight but not knowing which program best serves your needs. So what do you do?
Well, the purpose of this article is to discuss various aspects and concepts surrounding weight loss programs in hopes that it will help you be able to select the appropriate program for you. First things first!

1. Identify what you REALLY want

What do you really want from your physical body? My online fitness coaching clients hear this from me all the time. At first it may seem like a pretty silly question, but it's not. I've learned that the vast majority of people seeking weight loss really aren't really that interested in losing weight at all. It's true! In my considerable professional experience, the majority of people seeking professional fitness coaching aren't looking to lose weight as much as they'd simply like to feel good about themselves and avoid the pain associated with the social pressures of being overweight. Weight loss isn't their true desire, it simply provides them with the things they are really wanting. In fact, I will go as far to say that most people really want to eat whatever they want to eat, do whatever they want to do and live their life as they deem appropriate. I'm not pointing fingers here, that's what I'd like to do too. However, being human means we have social pressures and expectations. At this point in history we are told that a lean, toned physique is sexy, attractive and desirable. I believe that this is the reason most people seek weight loss programs, not because of a true desire to be lean, but an intense desire to be wanted, to be sexy, to be considered attractive and to feel good about their body when surrounded by people who's opinions they consider important.
It's perfectly alright to seek weight loss for any reason at all; because you want to feel attractive, feel confident in your body or to attract prospective love interests. Whatever your reason for seeking weight loss, it's very important that you identify your REAL reason for this pursuit. Once you've accurately identified this reason/reasons, motivating yourself toward that goal/goals is a much more enjoyable process. Once this happens, the weight loss process is not so much about the weight as much as it's all about you! And that is exactly how it should be.

2. Determine commitment boundaries

This concept is perhaps the most important of all. I have seen people spend thousands of dollars on weight loss programs only to abandon that effort just days into the program. They over-committed themselves and were not able to follow through. Every weight loss program has a few things in common. Each of these things will vary from program to program, but the basic components remain:
  1. Frequency - how often you must workout
  2. Intensity - how much effort and intensity you must put into your program
  3. Time - how much time you must exercise each workout
  4. Type - the type of exercise(s) you will be doing during a program

This actually has a common name. We in the fitness industry call this the F.I.T.T principle. Beyond these basics which are usually associated with the exercise components of your program there will also be nutritional requirements to any quality weight loss program that fit perfectly into the same acronym:
  1. Frequency - describes how often you will eat each day
  2. Intensity - how rigid or lax your diet is
  3. Time - how long you must eat this way
  4. Type - the kind of food and nutrition methodology being used

These are going to be present in any well-developed weight loss program. Your success is dependent on what you are realistically willing and able to commit to with regard to each of these factors. Let's face it, purchasing a weight loss program does not guarantee success, you must follow the program to achieve results. For instance, if your program requires a very strict diet with seven days of intense exercise each week but you aren't a disciplined dieter and have never worked out before, this hypothetical program probably isn't the one that is going to serve your needs best. Perhaps you need a program that has a more developmental approach and allows you more food and exercise options.

3. Beware of programs that claim to be for everybody

I'm not saying that there aren't programs that could benefit anyone and everyone, but I am saying that you are more likely to be successful when you sign-up for a program that is directed at people just like you. Programs that attempt to cater to everyone are typically designed to produce sales more than results. These programs tend to be very demanding, have very rigid diet expectations and often lead to injury for those not prepared to handle the demands the program requires. Do your homework and find a program that is designed with you in mind.
When I began developing my Body Fat Meltdown weight loss program for women a lot of people told me I'd make more sales if I would only market it to everyone; men, women, older, younger, everybody. While this is undoubtedly true I couldn't ethically do that because I know that each of these groups of people have their own unique set of needs and desires when it comes to physical fitness and weight loss. Therefore, I developed the Body Fat Meltdown program specifically for newly motivated women wanting to lose weight without requiring a gym membership so they could work out each day for thirty minutes or less wherever and whenever they wanted. I wanted it to be ideal for the at-home exerciser or for women who need to workout with minimal equipment while traveling. It needed to take away all excuses for a newly motivated weight loss participant and that's what it does. By providing exact diets and exercise instructions the Body Fat Meltdown program ensures success if a woman will simply follow it for ninety days. This is an example of a program that has a targeted audience, a specific purpose and a meaningful method of progression that will lead this specific group of participants toward their weight loss goals.

4. Make sure the program is challenging, but livable

Be honest about the type of program your lifestyle will allow you to partake in. Fitness is an evolution so where you are in life now may not be where you are down the line, but you must be able to manage your weight loss program within the current boundaries that your life provides. For instance, if you are a single mother with two small children at home you probably are not going to stick to a ninety day program where you have to eat brussel sprout and cabbage soup at each meal while exercising sixty minutes two times each day. It's just not sustainable. Every program has it's nutrition and exercise requirements so it's up to you to make sure that those requirements will challenge you to improve but that also fit into your current living arrangement.

5. The best weight loss program is one you'll finish

The most effective program in the world is useless if you don't do it. I know this first-hand. I've has women sign-up for my Body Fat Meltdown weight loss program and proceed to lose twenty-four pounds in the first thirty days. On the other hand I've had women sign-up and never even attempt the first training program yielding a result of exactly nothing. The best weight loss program you can invest in is one you will participate in, be challenged by and finish. I can name at least a hundred weight loss programs off the top of my head that have produced amazing results for their participants. Conversely, I can assure you that every one of those programs also has people who purchased, then barely participated, quit and spent hard-earned money for no results whatsoever. Ultimately the results you get begin and end with you. They are dependent on the factors we discussed above and are absolutely determined by your participation and completion of the program.
Take these five factors and use them to weed through the vast wilderness of weight loss programs available to you. Find a program where you are the targeted participant, one that you can realistically participate in and sustain from start to finish. If you do these things I firmly believe you will be successful in your effort to lose weight and look and feel great.
